Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is seeking an Admission Nurse for a remote telemetry role. You will admit patients into the monitoring system and liaise with bedside staff to ensure timely information flow and patient safety.

Preferred candidates have 3+ years inpatient nursing experience and an MO/IL license. Night shifts are 12 hours; benefit eligibility begins the first day of the month after hire.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Admit patients into the monitoring system and coordinate with bedside staff as needed.

This is a remote, non-direct patient care role located remotley from BJC at The Commons

Admission nurses admit patients into the monitoring system and communicate with bedside staff as needed.

Overview

Centralized Telemetry, a department in which trained monitor technicians observe and analyze various heart rhythms of patients who are admitted to the Centralized Telemetry Monitoring system. Technicians monitor patients within BJH North and South, as well as, BJ West County. Constant communication with nursing staff regarding changes in rhythm status is key to patient care. Technicians will call CODES if lethal rhythms are detected for patient safety and positive outcome of patient condition

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.


• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.


• Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.


• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
