Job summary

The Centralized Accounting Manager at MCR Hotels will oversee monthly close activities for hotel entities, prepare financial statements, and support the annual budgeting process. The role interfaces with senior leadership and on-site general managers to ensure accurate reporting and timely financials.

Candidates should have 3–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate or the hotel industry, with strong Excel and MS Office skills and excellent written and verbal

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end close duties including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Review monthly general ledger accounts for accuracy.
• Prepare monthly financial statements for hotel entities.
• Calculate and process various taxes (sales, occupancy, tourism) monthly or quarterly.
• Review and post daily uploads from property system.
• Reconcile intercompany balances between portfolios and parent.
• Assist with annual budget preparation and audit work papers.
• Support special projects and other real estate-related activities.

Job description

The Centralized Accounting Manager is responsible for supporting our hotels with financial-related functions which include monthly reporting and reconciliations, preparing financials statements, and preparation of monthly occupancy and sales taxes. The ideal candidate will need strong interpersonal and communications skills.The position interfaces with all levels of the organization from senior leadership to on-site general managers.In addition, this position will assist with the annual budget process and preparation of audit work papers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform all normal month end close duties for assigned properties including journal entries, bank reconciliations and other balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Review monthly general ledger accounts for accuracy.
• Prepare monthly financials for hotel entity.
• Calculate and process various tax payment (including sales tax, occupancy tax, tourism tax) on a monthly or quarterly basis, as required.
• Review and post daily upload from property system.
• Review and approve daily flash reporting.
• Reconcile intercompany balances between all portfolios and parent company.
• Assist in setting up utilities with new acquisitions.
• Assist with annual budget preparation for hotel operating.
• Assist with annual audits by completing required audit schedules and supplying supporting documentation.
• Assist with special projects and provide support to other real estate-related activities, funds, and investments.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or experience in closing hotels
• 3 - 5+ years of accounting experience
• Experience in commercial real estate or the hotel industry preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Excel, and Word.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
• Must work with attention to detail.
• Strong work ethic.
