Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Central Service Tech Assistant to perform decontamination, sterilization, and inventory management in the surgical services area. This role reports to the Manager of Patient Care and the Surgical Services Coordinator.

The position requires a High School/GED, at least 1 year in Central Service or as a Surgical Technician, and certification or planned certification within one year. OSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of Central Service or Surgical Technician experience.
• Certification as a Registered Central Service Technician or Registered Surgical Technician (must obtain within 1 year).

Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination and sterilization.
• Maintain documentation and inventories.
• Assemble case carts and support surgical services.
• Follow standards from MDHP, JCAHO, AAMI and IA HCSMM.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Central Service Tech Assistant is responsible for performing decontamination, sterilization, maintaining required documentation, assembling case carts, and maintaining inventories using recommended standards of the Michigan Department of Public Health (MDPH), the Joint Commission, Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), and the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM). The surgical services Central Service Tech Assistant works under the direction of the Manager, Patient Care and the Surgical Services Coordinator.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: High School/GED
• Experience: One (1) year experience in Central Service or One (1) year experience as a Surgical Technician
• Licensure/ Certifications: Certified as a Registered Central Service Technician OR as a Registered Surgical Technician (must obtain within one (1) year
