Job summary

Hartford HealthCare's Hartford Hospital is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician Trainee to train under the supervision of a SPS Technician 3 or assigned trainer for a minimum of 60 days. During training you will perform decontamination, instrument assembly, packaging, sterilization and case cart assembly to support operating rooms.

This role provides path to certification and promotion to SPS Tech 1. You must obtain the Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification (CBSPD) or CRCST

Qualifications

• Education requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification requirement: within 24 months of hire, obtain CBSPD Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification or CRCST.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination of instruments and equipment.
• Instrument assembly and packaging for sterilization.
• Sterilization processes and case cart preparation.
• Support operating rooms with timely instrument availability.

Job Summary SPS Technician are not yet certified and will be required to train under the direct supervision of SPS Technician 3 or other assigned trainer for a minimum of 60 days. While training, the SPS Technician Non-Certified will perform duties including decontamination, instrument assembly, packaging, sterilization and case cart assembly. As required, job skills will be assessed and validated by their trainer and the SPS Site Manager before completion of the training program. This role and completion of the training program will prepare the SPS Tech for obtaining Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification and promotion to SPS Tech 1.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Licensure, Certification, Registration

• Must obtain "Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification" from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution Inc. (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from IAHCSMM within 24 months of hire (in accordance with CT state law).
