Day Kimball Health in Putnam, CT is seeking a Central Sterile Supply Technician to join the CSS department. This full-time role operates on the 1st shift with 8-hour days and a 40-hour work week, focusing on decontamination, instrument assembly, and sterilization across OR specialties.

The successful candidate will handle complex instrumentation (ENT, GYN/OB, general, ortho, urology) and participate in training and case-cart processes, ensuring high-quality sterile services for patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Certification as a Certified Central Processing Technician is required.
• Advanced knowledge of CSS processing functions.
• Competencies in complex instrumentation—ENT, GYN/OB, laparoscopic, orthopaedic, and urology.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for gaining advanced knowledge of instruments through the entire CSS process.
• Assist in case cart assembly and management.
• Respond to OR needs via documented requests and follow-up.
• Participate in Quality Improvement Teams and quality initiatives.
• Comply with departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
• Attend meetings, conferences, and seminars as required.
• Assist in monitoring quality indicators in daily operations.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and requirements.
• Perform other related duties as required.
• Maintain CEUs and certification with a recognized agency.

Central Sterile Supply Technician Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Director, CSS Tech must meet advanced competencies in addition to routine instrument assembly. This position must be familiar with complex instrumentation to include laparoscopic, ENT, Gyn/OB, General, Urology and Ortho specialties. The CSS Tech may assist in the orientation, precepting, and continuing training of other technicians. CSS Tech must be familiar with case cart process.

Central Sterile Supply Technician Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for gaining advanced knowledge of instruments through the entire CSS process. This includes, but is not limited to, decontamination, assembly – complete inspection and packaging and sterilization.


• Responsible for gaining knowledge and competency in case cart assembly and management.


• Responds to OR needs via telephone documentation of request follow through.


• Participates on Quality Improvement Teams as requested and Quality initiative in department.


• Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.


• Attends variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed.


• Assists in collection and monitoring of use of quality indicators in daily operations.


• Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.


• Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.


• All responsibilities are essential job functions unless noted otherwise.


• Responsible for CEUs and maintaining certification with a recognized certification agency.

Central Sterile Supply Technician Education andExperience Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED certification.


• Certification by a recognized certification agency as a Certified Central Processing Technician is required.


• Advanced knowledge of CSS processing functions.


• Demonstrated competencies in complex instrumentation such as but not limited to ENT, GYN/OB, Laparoscopic, Ortho, and Urology services.
