Job summary

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA is hiring a Senior Sterile Services Technician for a full-time, second shift role. Hours are 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm, Monday to Friday with rotating weekend call.

A sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 is available for qualified candidates, with a comprehensive benefits package. The technician will decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment, and ensure sterilization equipment is operated according to standards.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• BLS within 90 days of hire required.
• Ability to transition between tasks efficiently; strong teamwork and communication.
• EVS or hospital inventory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
• Operate and maintain sterilization equipment according to procedures.
• Inspect equipment for defects and report issues.
• Support OR services with sterile supplies as needed.

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Senior Sterile Services Technician for a Full Time, 2nd shift role in Charlottesville, VA!

Hours are primarily from 230p to 11p Monday to Friday with Rotating weekend Call. Call Hours are from 7am to 7pm hours. Sign on bonus of up to $5,000 available for qualified candidates!

Duties include

The Central Sterile Services Technician I is responsible for the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments, medical equipment, and supplies used in patient care. This position operates and maintains sterilization equipment according to established procedures and standards. Examines medical equipment for defects and reports faulty equipment to appropriate personnel.

About the department

Performing an average of 7,000 cases each year, the Operating Room at SMJH has 8 OR suites and offers a variety of service lines including Complex GYN, Neurosurgery, Vascular/Thoracic and Orthopedic surgery. It is also the 2nd highest-performing OR in the Sentara system for Orthopedic total joint procedures.

Sterile Services include 16 team members with an experienced leadership team.

Certification/Licensure

Experience

• Ability to transition between tasks efficiently required
• Team work and communication skills required
• EVS, Acute hospital experience or Hospital inventory experience, preferred.
