Job summary

Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital seeks a Sterile Processing liaison to strengthen ties with the Operating Room and drive efficient case completion. This role focuses on anticipating needs, bridging gaps, and upholding patient safety through disciplined problem-solving and teamwork.

The position requires a GED or higher, plus graduation from an accredited sterile processing or surgical technology program, or 5 years SPD/OR experience in lieu of the formal course. On-site, full-time opportunity.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited sterile processing or surgical technology course.
• In lieu of completion of the course, 5 years' working experience within SPD or the OR required.

Responsibilities

• Bridge the gap between Sterile Processing and the Operating Room to ensure case flow and efficiency.

A major focus will be anticipating the needs and bridging the gap to ensure surgeon satisfaction, case completion, interdepartmental communication, and patient quality care and safety by utilizing problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
• Graduate of an accredited sterile processing or surgical technology course. Online programs that do not offer hands-on instruction or experience will not be accepted. Required or
• In Lieu of completion of the course, 5 years' working experience within SPD or the OR Required

Work Experience

• 3 years of collective experience in the Peri-Operative environment to include both Sterile Processing and the Operating Room Required and
• 3 years case cart knowledge and experience Required and
• Experience with Instrument Management Tracking systems, preferably Microsystems (SPM) Required and
• In lieu of degree additional 5 years of working experience with SPD or the OR Required

Licenses and Certifications

• CSPDT - Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech from one of the two certification boards (IAHCSMM or CSPD) within one year of hire within 1 Year Required
