Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

As a Central Services Technician, you will play a critical role in patient safety by ensuring surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment are properly cleaned, disinfected, assembled, sterilized, and ready for use.

In this role, you will:

  • Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute reusable surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all sterilization processes comply with hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and industry standards.
  • Monitor and document sterilization cycles, biological testing, and quality assurance activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to AORN and AAMI standards and recommended practices.
  • Inspect instruments and equipment for cleanliness, functionality, and proper assembly before sterilization and distribution.
  • Restock supplies and maintain adequate inventory levels for surgical and procedural areas.
  • Assist with record keeping, tracking systems, documentation, and other clerical duties related to sterile processing operations.
  • Support operating room efficiency by ensuring needed instruments, trays, and supplies are available when required.
  • Participate as a collaborative member of the Surgical Services team.
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility through efficient use of supplies, equipment, and resources.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Respond appropriately to operational changes, urgent requests, and emergent situations.
  • Participate in ongoing education, competency validation, and professional development activities.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Education
  • High School Diploma or GED
Required Licenses & Certifications
