Carle Health in Illinois is seeking a Central Service Technician to decontaminate, disassemble, clean, reassemble, package and sterilize instrumentation for surgical cases and nursing units.

You will follow AAMI and infection control guidelines, inspect instruments for defects, and restock carts and Omnicells. Documentation of processing in the SPD system is required, and you will assist with supply picking and responding to calls.

• Performs the re-assembly and packaging of instrument sets accurately and efficiently according to department policies and manufacturer instructions.
• Performs manual and mechanical cleaning of reusable instrumentation and equipment.
• Inspects instruments for cleanliness and defects; verifies proper functionality.
• Uses various electronic equipment to inspect electrosurgical instruments and cables for defects.
• Restocks Specialty Carts and Omnicells as necessary.
• Documents completed work and verifies processing parameters in the SPD information system.
• Sterilizes instrument sets in accordance with policies and manufacturer instructions for use (IFU).
• Picks supplies for same-day/next-day surgical cases; answers internal and external inquiries.

Overview

The Central Service Technician is responsible for decontaminating, disassembling, cleaning, reassembling, packaging, and sterilizing instrumentation for surgical cases, clinics and the nursing units. Follows protocols to ensure equipment/instrumentation processing meets standards for AAMI and organizational Infection Control guidelines. Provides both disposable and reusable equipment to the Operating Room. Dispenses disposable supplies utilized in OR cases.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $16.39per hour - $26.55per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health.
