Job summary

Mohawk Valley Health System is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to work under the supervision of the Senior Technician or Department Manager. The role involves performing all phases of decontamination, instrument inspection and assembly for the OR and related labs, operating sterilizers, and maintaining accurate logs and documentation.

Qualified applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent; one year of related experience and a CS Tech Certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1 year previous related experience is preferred.
• CS Tech Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carries out Standard Precautions at all times.
• Performs all phases of decontamination: instruments, carts and equipment (commodes, Imeds, Isolation Carts, wheelchairs, stretchers, etc.)
• Operates the washer-decontaminator, cart wash and the steam gun.
• Performs all phases of inspecting and assembling instruments for the OR, CTOR, Cath lab, EP lab, X-ray, ER, Sleep lab and all the off-sites
• Operates the sterilizers in the department (STEAM, ETO, and STERRAD).
• Adheres to the proper wrapping, labeling, and logging on the appropriate log sheets.
• Maintains accurate logs on all sterilizers.
• Operates heat sealer, labeling gun and drying cabinet
• Accurately documents results.
• Adheres to the proper delinting, folding and assembling of reusable linen.
• Restock hemodialysis carts, minor procedure carts, and prisma carts.
