Job summary

Pima County's Finance & Risk Management Department is hiring for an Accountant II in Central Payroll. The role focuses on reviewing, reconciling, and maintaining payroll and accounting records to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.

You will support audits, grant reporting, and financial system usage within a collaborative Central Payroll team. The position requires a degree in accounting or related field and at least one year of accounting experience; a master’s/CPA can substitute for one

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration or related field.
• One year of professional accounting or financial statement auditing experience.
• Master’s degree or CPA designation may substitute for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Review, reconcile, and analyze financial transactions for accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and classify financial data.
• Prepare financial schedules, reports, and documentation for audits and reporting.
• Assist in monitoring expenditures, revenues, and budget activity.
• Support grant-related accounting activities and audits.
• Prepare adjusting entries and assist with audit inquiries.
• Provide guidance on accounting processes and financial system usage.
