Job summary

Saia is seeking a capable dispatcher to coordinate drivers and equipment for daily freight transportation. You will source and assign vehicles, track line haul movements, and collaborate with dock operators to ensure timely and efficient loads across the network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or a related field is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of transportation or dispatch experience is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management applications is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sources drivers and equipment to meet daily transportation needs.
• Compiles a list of available vehicles and assigns them appropriately.
• Records driver staffing requirements for transportation runs.
• Prepares a list of extra drivers available for assignments.
• Tracks and records all line-haul movement in transportation management systems.
• Collaborates with dock operators to plan and move intermodal and purchase transportation loads promptly.

Position Summary

Major Tasks and Responsibilities

• Sources drivers and equipment to execute operations efficiently.
• Compiles a list of available vehicles and assigns them appropriately.
• Records driver staffing requirements for transportation runs.
• Prepares a list of extra drivers available for assignments.
• Tracks and records all line haul movement in transportation management applications.
• Collaborates with dock operators to plan and move intermodal and purchase transportation loads in a timely manner.
• Distributes the transmittal of load tenders and informational transfer to and with purchase transportation and intermodal providers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
• 5+ years of transportation or dispatch experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and transportation management applications.
