Job summary

CEN-TEX FAMILY SERVICES INC in LaGrange, TX seeks a Head Start Floater to provide flexible classroom, kitchen, and program support. You will help implement educational activities, promote safety, and assist staff across multiple areas to keep operations smooth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; coursework in early childhood education is preferred.

Job Summary

The Head Start Floater provides flexible support to classrooms, kitchen, and other program areas as needed to maintain smooth operations and high-quality services. This position assists with implementing educational activities, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and supporting staff in various roles. The Floater adapts quickly to changing assignments while promoting positive interactions with children, families, and staff.

Classroom Support

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with classroom routines and activities.
• Support individual and small-group instruction.
• Supervise children to ensure safety.

Key Behaviors

• Follow lesson plans and directions from lead teachers.

Kitchen & Meal Service Assistance

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation, serving, and cleanup.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; experience/coursework in early childhood education preferred.
• Experience working with young children in a classroom or childcare setting.
• Ability to adapt to varied roles and responsibilities
• Ability to communicate in English both verbally and written

Licenses / Certifications

• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
• Valid Texas ID/Driver License
• Obtain Food Handlers Certificate (if applicable)
• Background clearance as required by state and federal regulations.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

• Classrooms, playgrounds, kitchen, and other Head Start facilities.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds,
• Frequent bending, standing, sitting on the floor, and active movement
• Exposure to common childhood illness
