Job Summary: Reporting to the Director of Education, the Center Director serves as the operational and instructional leader for one or more centers in the Head Start program. The Center Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the center(s). This includes keeping the center in compliance with state and federal regulation, supervision of staff, maintaining the staff to child ratio, and coordinating with other departments – nutrition, family engagement, health, ERSEA, safety, maintenance and transportation as needed for daily operations of facility.

Education/Experience: A bachelor's degree in early childhood education (ECE) or related field is required, with a minimum of 18 credits in ECE and Infant/Toddler Certification. Applicants also must have a minimum of two years of supervisory experience in Head Start or a related field.

Other Qualifications: Must have good computer skills and be proficient in using MS software products, be a self-starter and have the ability to start projects and carry them through. Must be able to work independently and able to meet deadlines. Must be able to communicate with various levels of staff professions within and external to the Agency.

Physical Demands: This position requires the employee to be in a seated position but will be required to stand for long periods of time when working or observing in a classroom or on the playground. This position may travel to other center locations. The employee must be able to frequently lift 20 lbs. Frequent keyboarding, finger dexterity, and computer use. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.

Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: A Director's Credential is required. CLASS Certification in Preschool, Toddler and Infant required withing 6 months of hire. Applicants must have a valid Florida Driver's license, reliable transportation, state required vehicle insurance and uninsured motorist insurance. Must be able to pass a Level II background screening. Applicants must meet all Department of Children and Families requirements for employment and must successfully complete the 45-hour childcare classes within 1 year of hire.
