Job summary

Easterseals DC MD VA in Camp Springs, MD is seeking a Center Director to lead our Head Start program at 6400‑B Allentown Road. The role oversees day‑to‑day operations, ensures licensing and accreditation compliance, and delivers high‑quality services for children and families.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of previous supervisory experience or related work experience required.
  • Professional teaching experience with infants to preschool children.
  • Bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field highly preferred.
  • Must pass physical examination, background check and fingerprint screen.
  • Meet Maryland State Dept. Of Education Office of Child Care requirements to lead childcare programs for infants/toddlers or preschoolers (ages 2-5) or school‑agers (grades K-5th)

Responsibilities

  • Communicates effectively with parents, clients, staff, licensing, and children with a passion for providing outstanding customer service.
  • Detail‑oriented with a deep understanding of state licensing and accreditation.
  • Work with Head Start Director to develop operational procedures, implement strategic initiatives and complete projects that impact local programs.
  • Ensure compliance with Company, State and Federal standards, along with licensing requirements.
  • Supervise all staff in the Center.

Job Title: Center Director

Job Summary:

This position reports to the Head Start Senior Director and is a member of the Head Start Leadership Team.

As a leader in a Child Care Center, you understand what it takes to inspire a team and build a great program. You are a positive influence and motivate others to be their best. You effectively manage the day‑to‑day operations to ensure quality throughout the center. The work you do is vitally important and makes a difference in the lives of children, families, and your staff.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Communicates effectively with parents, clients, staff, licensing, and children with a passion for providing outstanding customer service.
  • Detail‑oriented with a deep understanding of state licensing and accreditation.
  • Work in concert with Head Start Director to develop operational procedures, implement strategic initiatives and complete projects that impact both the local programs and the Company’s business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with Company, State and Federal standards, along with licensing requirements.
  • Support Head Start Director in meeting all programs or company‑wide goals.
  • Maintain contracts for all utilities, communications, storage, cleaning services, and trash removal.
  • Responsible for maintaining building and grounds.
  • Ensure compliance with municipal ordinances, state licensing laws, and federal standards.
  • Maintains the license compliance files.
  • Oversees the issuing of company supplies to personnel, while maintaining an inventory of equipment, laptops, cell phones, walkie‑talkies etc.
  • Responds to all emergencies. Emergency Liaison with Municipal departments.
  • Responsible for creating and monitoring the IT, Facility and Food Service annual budgets.
  • Supervises all staff in the Center
