Job description

Life Skills Autism Academy is looking for exceptional behavior technicians! Candidates must hold and maintain current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) as issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or be willing to complete a 40‑hour training course and sit for their RBT competency exam within 45 days of employment. Registered Behavior Technicians help the development of children who are on the Autism Spectrum by providing ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Therapy in a 1:1 setting under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. This therapy is used to increase critical developmental skills such as language and communication, social, and school readiness behaviors.

Pay Range: $18 - $24 (negotiable based on experience, education, and skills)

Center Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm | Full‑time, in‑center.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training.
• Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols as outlined in the client’s individualized treatment plan built by BCBA/BC.
• Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.
• Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with the client’s individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols.
• Ensure documentation is completed on time and following established procedures.
• Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding client progress as instructed by BCBA/BC.
• Utilize safe and appropriate procedures when working with clients and appropriately report all critical incidents and safety concerns.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
• Assist BCBA/BC in preparation of client materials, behavior reduction assessments, and skills acquisition.
• Sit down and stand up from the floor or chair many times throughout the work day.
• Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Run or move quickly as needed to interact with, and for the safety and protection of, the client(s).

Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge

• Willingness to participate in the company’s background check process.
• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
• Reliable transportation; proof of driver’s license and valid car insurance may be required.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Willingness to obtain CPR and First Aid certification, and a TB test if not completed in the past year.
• Ability to physically perform this job, including frequent floor work, lifting up to 50 lbs, and rapid movement for child interaction and safety.
• High reliability and punctuality for scheduled therapy appointments.
• Professional presentation and conduct at all times.
• Patience to keep clients on task.
• Ability to maintain emotional control during client outbursts.
• Positive attitude and drive to help a child acquire new skills.
• Strong attention to detail for repetitive tasks.
• Ability to follow and carry out detailed instructions.
• Comfortable with technology for data recording on mobile devices and navigating digital applications.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong cultural competency with flexibility and open‑mindedness.

Additional Qualifications (Not Required)

• Experience as a Behavioral Technician, working with children with autism or other learning disabilities, Teacher’s Aid, Tutor, CNA, Caregiver, or Home Health Aide.
