Job summary

Service Corporation International, a leading provider of funeral, cemetery and cremation services in North America, seeks an experienced Cemetery Maintenance leader in the Piedmont, SC area. You will oversee operations for multiple cemeteries, drive safety and quality standards, coordinate staffing, and manage capital expenditure projects to ensure exceptional service and efficiency.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least eight (8) years cemetery maintenance experience with increasing responsibilities.
  • At least two (2) years supervising and managing staff.
  • Environmental regulatory compliance experience.
  • New Construction / capital expenditure development experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations of multiple cemeteries.
  • Establish and communicate work, quality, and safety expectations ensuring cemetery services exceed customer expectations.
  • Coordinate staff work and time-off schedules ensuring appropriate coverage and minimizing overtime.
  • Supervise grounds keeping, landscaping, and seasonal plantings presenting a welcoming and manicured appearance of properties.
  • Area of responsibility (AOR) may include funeral homes, crematories, or mausoleums.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and wildlife regulations.
  • Build business relationships with local government authorities to facilitate quick resolution of issues and concerns.
  • Identify and implement efficiencies.
  • Support change initiatives.
  • Source and select vendors.
  • Procure, store, and maintain sufficient inventory of tools, materials, equipment and lawn treatment.
  • Review and approve invoices for payment.
  • Maintain equipment in proper working order.
  • Supervise mausoleum new construction; obtain drawings.
  • Prepare budgets, vendor sourcing and selection.
  • Supervise new construction build addressing and resolving issues.
  • Collaborate with the home office on capital expenditure projects, understanding timeline, resources, responsibilities, and managing activity and noise in consideration of cemetery services.
  • Develop annual operating budget, personnel budget, and management expenses to achieve budget.
  • Plan for equipment replacement.

MINIMUM Requirements
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience
  • At least eight (8) years cemetery maintenance experience with increasing responsibilities.
  • At least two (2) years supervising and managing staff
Environmental regulatory compliance experience

New Construction / capital expenditure developmental experience
