Job summary

SCI is seeking a Cemetery Groundskeeper in Stockbridge, GA. The role involves maintaining lawns, pruning around memorials, laying sod, and preparing graveside areas for ceremonies.

Under supervision you will operate basic tools and, occasionally, a backhoe for grave digging. You will also set up chapels, install markers, and perform routine maintenance while following OSHA and company safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or relevant experience.
• Minimum 6 months of relevant experience in cemetery maintenance.
• Candidates must be able to operate hand tools and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Cuts grass and maintains the lawn, trims around trees and markers.
• Lays sod and moves flowers to and from chapel and graveside.
• Clears debris, maintains drives and walkways, snow removal as needed.
• Erects tents and arranges chairs for graveside ceremonies.
• Sets up openings and closings for interments and entombments.
• Maintains chapel for services.
• Prepares crypts for entombments.
• Operates backhoe to dig graves under supervision.
• Installs grave markers and memorials.
• Maintains and repairs cemetery features, and keeps equipment clean and stored.
• General vehicle maintenance; paints and minor repairs.
• Adheres to safety and OSHA guidelines.
