Job summary

National Cemetery Administration is seeking a Cemetery Caretaker to perform landscaping and groundskeeping duties across cemetery grounds. You will operate small tractors, dig graves, plant shrubs, and maintain grassed areas using hand and power tools while ensuring safety and adherence to procedures.

You will also assist with epitaph maintenance, headstone cleaning, and the placement of caskets on lowering devices, while complying with federal regulations and the agency’s standards for service

Qualifications

• Experience in landscaping or groundskeeping with use of hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to operate related machinery and equipment used in cemetery caretaking.
• Willingness to perform outdoor physical work in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate small tractors and riding mowers.
• Transplant shrubs, dig graves, and level dirt.
• Maintain cemetery grounds by weeding, mulching, fertilizing, and pruning.
• Clean headstones and service areas with appropriate equipment.
• Assist in loading/unloading materials and positioning caskets on lowering devices.
