Job summary

Greenwood Memorial Park & Mortuary in San Diego, CA is seeking a Cemetery Caretaker to maintain the cemetery, mausoleum and funeral home grounds, including grave site locating, digging graves, memorials and interments, and general repairs.

Responsibilities include mowing, edging, trimming around markers, laying sod, hauling flowers, cleaning facilities, loading caskets, vehicle washing, and keeping drives and walkways safe for families and staff.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of experience in grounds keeping and/or maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Cuts grass and maintains lawn areas.
• Trims around trees, walkways, and memorial markers.
• Lays sod and edges with a stick edger.
• Cleans and maintains ponds, drives, and walkways.
• Hand digs/trenching for interments.
• Assists with loading/unloading caskets and facility cleaning.
• Operates vehicles and golf carts; ensures safe cemetery operations.

Greenwood Memorial Park & Mortuary is looking for a Cemetery Caretaker to join our team in San Diego, CA where we offer a passionate and purpose-filled work environment. The Cemetery Caretaker is responsible for the overall appearance of cemetery, mausoleum, and funeral home locations, including maintenance and grounds keeping, locating grave sites, digging graves, installing crypt faces, memorials, monuments, conducting interments, entombments and inurnments, and repairs and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Cuts grass.
• Maintains lawn and trims around trees, walkways, and memorial markers
• Lays sod
• Moves and removes flowers to and from the chapel and graveside.
• Blows leaf and grass
• Edges with stick edger
• Clears debris and maintains drives and walkways in a safe condition.
• Cleans ponds and fountains
• Hand digs/trenching
• Facilities Cleaning:
  • Maintains overall appearance and cleanliness of funeral homes and/or mausoleum facilities.
  • Cleans and maintains the facility, performs minor repairs, painting, etc.
  • Assists in loading and unloading caskets.
  • Vehicle and golf cart washing/cleaning

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 6 + months of experience in grounds keeping and/or maintenance

Compensation range of $19.61-21.79/hr.
