Job summary

NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a Cemetery Caretaker at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, MD. The role involves grounds upkeep, lawn maintenance, and caring for memorial areas with attention to detail and respect for families.

You will perform tasks such as mowing, edging, trimming around markers, cleaning ponds, and assisting with facility cleaning and minor repairs. Valid driver's license and a High School Diploma are required, plus 6+ months of related experience.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license is required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6+ months of grounds keeping/maintenance experience required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains grounds including mowing, trimming around trees, walkways and memorial markers.
• Lays sod and manages flowers to chapels and gravesites.
• Edging with stick edger; clears debris; maintains drives and walkways.
• Cleans ponds and fountains; hand digs/trenching.
• Maintains overall appearance and cleanliness of funeral homes/mausoleum facilities; performs minor repairs and painting.
• Assists in loading/unloading caskets; vehicle and golf cart cleaning/washing.

Responsibilities

• Grounds Keeping:
  • Cuts grass.
  • Maintains lawn and trims around trees, walkways, and memorial markers
  • Lays sod
  • Moves and removes flowers to and from the chapel and graveside.
  • Blows leaf and grass
  • Edges with stick edger
  • Clears debris and maintains drives and walkways in a safe condition.
  • Cleans ponds and fountains
  • Hand digs/trenching
• Facilities Cleaning:
  • Maintains overall appearance and cleanliness of funeral homes and/or mausoleum facilities.
  • Cleans and maintains the facility, performs minor repairs, painting, etc.
  • Assists in loading and unloading caskets.
  • Vehicle and golf cart washing/cleaning

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 6 + months of experience in grounds keeping and/or maintenance

Compensation of $17-19/hr.
