NorthStar Memorial Group seeks a Cemetery Caretaker for Graceland and Fairlawn Cemeteries in Decatur, IL. The role focuses on maintaining cemetery grounds, performing interments and general facilities upkeep to honor families’ traditions.

The position requires grounds keeping experience, a valid driver’s license, and a high school diploma. Compensation is $15–18 per hour with medical/dental/vision, HSA, life insurance, and 401(k) with employer matching.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of experience in grounds keeping and/or maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsabilités

• Cuts grass and maintains lawns, walkways, and memorial markers.
• Lays sod and edges with a stick edger.
• Moves flowers to and from chapel and graveside.
• Cleans ponds and fountains; clears debris from drives and walkways.
• Hand digs/trenching for graves.
• Cleans and maintains funeral homes/mausoleum facilities; performs minor repairs and painting.
• Assists in loading/unloading caskets; cleans vehicles and golf carts.

NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a Cemetery Caretaker at Graceland and Fairlawn Cemeteries in Decatur, IL. The Cemetery Caretaker is responsible for the overall appearance of cemetery, mausoleum, and funeral home locations, including maintenance and grounds keeping, locating grave sites, digging graves, installing crypt faces, memorials, monuments, conducting interments, entombments and inurnments, and repairs and maintenance tasks. Depending on the location to which the employee is assigned, individual responsibilities may include some, or all, of the following activities: grounds keeping, interment/memorialization, and facilities cleaning/maintenance. An employee’s position assignment will be based on demonstrated competence in the skills required for the next level in the job family.

Responsibilities

• Cuts grass.

• Blows leaf and grass
• Edges with stick edger
• Clears debris and maintains drives and walkways in a safe condition.
• Cleans ponds and fountains
• Hand digs/trenching
• Facilities Cleaning:
  • Maintains overall appearance and cleanliness of funeral homes and/or mausoleum facilities.
  • Cleans and maintains the facility, performs minor repairs, painting, etc.
  • Assists in loading and unloading caskets.
  • Vehicle and golf cart washing/cleaning

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 6 + months of experience in grounds keeping and/or maintenance

Compensation range of $15-18/hr.
