Job summary

Jackson Family Wines in Santa Rosa, CA seeks a Cellar Tech II to perform filtering, racking, pumping, clarifying and blending of juice and wine. The role may lead junior crew and support ongoing cellar operations.

Expect 2–3 years of cellar experience, strong reading/writing and math skills, safety-conscious work, and flexibility to work different shifts, including harvest periods. Forklift experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize winery equipment and facilities.
• Rack and pump juice and wine; manage hoses and equipment.
• Make chemical additions with appropriate respirators.
• Operate forklift to move and stack barrels.
• Fill, topple and rack barrels; obtain lab samples.
• Fining and filtering juice and wine; operate DE/Crossflow filters.
• Assist in equipment maintenance and observe safe cellar practices.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Position at Jackson Family Wines

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Cellar Manager and Foreperson, the Cellar Tech II performs a variety of work assignments including filtering, racking, pumping, clarifying and blending of juice and wine. The Cellar Tech II can direct other developing crew members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

• Cleaning, sanitizing and sterilizing all winery equipment and facilities.
• Racking and pumping of juice and wine; moving hoses and equipment.
• Making chemical additions to juice and wine; while wearing a half face and full face respirator.
• Safe operation of a forklift to move and stack barrels in the warehouse.
• Filling, topping and racking barrels.
• Obtaining lab samples.
• Fining and filtering juice and wine.
• Operating DE Filter, Crossflow filter, Barrel Lines, lees filter.
• Knowledge of bottling operations.
• Assist in equipment maintenance.
• Following and observing all safe cellar practices.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Essential Skills, Experience, And Education

• Generally requires 2 to 3 years prior, relevant cellar experience.
• Must have ability to communicate effectively with good skills in reading, writing and basic math. Must be able to add, subtract, divide and multiply.
• Must be able to follow and communicate verbal and written safety and work instructions in English.
• Must be able to work safely around equipment, electrical outlets and chemicals.
• Individuals selected for this position must be reliable and possess a good work ethic.
• Must be able to work any shift and overtime as needed, particularly during harvest season.
• Forklift experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to wear a half-face and full-face respirator.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical exam and illegal drug screening.

WAGE TRANSPARENCY:

The base pay for this role ranges from $21.08 - $30.02 per hour. Compensation will be determined by candidate experience, skills, and location.
