Job summary

Verizon is seeking a Network Operations Engineer to join a 24x7 Operations environment, responsible for optimizing and maintaining network systems to ensure high availability for customers. You will perform troubleshooting, fault isolation, and coordinated remediation in a fast-paced setting.

The role requires robust experience in network optimization, coverage evaluation, and incident response, with willingness to rotate shifts and travel up to 75%.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network systems and applications to identify overall system availability and performance.
  • Evaluate network coverage to find gaps, propose improvements, and help implement changes.
  • Perform triage, fault isolation, and remediation of network events.
  • Generate, drive, and update problem-tracking tickets across systems and improve processes.
  • Escalate issues to internal/external engineer teams for resolution.

What you\'ll be doing...

Join Verizon as we continue to expand our industry-leading network to improve the ways people, businesses, and things connect. As a Network Operations Engineer, you will provide technical expertise on a critical role involving network transformation, network outages, service issues, network optimization, and maintenance. You will be responsible for providing support to keep things running smoothly and change the way that our customers live, work, and play. We are a 24x7 highly visible Operations environment that performs troubleshooting, configuration changes, drive issues to resolution, and related functions.

  • Performing optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network systems and applications to identify overall system availability and performance.

  • Evaluating network coverage to find gaps, making recommendations to improve coverage, and helping to implement those recommendations.

  • Performing triage, fault isolation, and remediation of network events.

  • Generating, driving, and updating problem-tracking tickets via multiple systems and continuously improving business practices.

  • Escalating issues to the appropriate internal/external engineer teams for resolution.

Physical requirements of the job may include but are not limited to climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated areas, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to approximately 65 pounds, pushing, pulling, grasping, twisting/bending, and crawling, squatting, or kneeling in small spaces.

Experience navigating and working well at all levels in a fast-paced, ever-changing network environment. You are dependable and enjoy supporting the rotational needs of a technical environment.

You\'ll need to have:

  • Associate\'s degree or two or more years of work experience.

  • Three or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.

  • Willingness to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.

  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 75% of the time.

  • Valid driver\'s license.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A technical degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a related discipline.

  • Knowledge of telecommunications equipment and technologies like Telephony Switching, Data Communications and Network Routers.

  • Computer support experience, including troubleshooting PC hardware and configurations.

  • Vendor management experience.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours. The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $82,000.00 - $134,000.00.
