AbbVie in South San Francisco, CA, is seeking a Scientist I to join the Cell Line Development group. You will execute CHO cell line development and characterization studies for GMP applications, supporting the biologics pipeline from bench to early-stage clinical work.

This hands-on role involves transfection, screening, culture scale-up, and close collaboration with process and analytical development teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in biology with lab-based experience.
  • Hands-on aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture experience; CHO preferred.
  • Experience with transfection and clone screening workflows.
  • Proficiency in nucleic acid analysis (qPCR/ddPCR) and sequencing-based methods.
  • Ability to design and interpret experiments independently and troubleshoot.

Responsibilities

  • Design and interpret experiments; generate reliable results.
  • Execute CHO cell line development workflows including transfection and clone screening.
  • Perform molecular characterization using PCR/qPCR/ddPCR.
  • Establish monoclonal CHO lines and maintain cell banks.
  • Design fed-batch and parallel culture studies; assess productivity and stability.
  • Maintain meticulous ELN documentation and collaborate across teams.
