Job description

The Department of Cell Biology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is seeking a faculty member with a strong research background in cell biology or related fields such as molecular biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, imaging, or bioinformatics.

Position Summary

Expand the faculty team in basic biomedical sciences, including synthetic and systems biology, molecular biology and genetics, quantitative systems biology, virology/immunology, developmental biology, and cancer. The candidate will develop a competitive research program, secure extramural funding (preferably federal), publish in high-impact journals, and teach and mentor graduate students, postdoctoral associates, and medical fellows. A competitive start-up package will be provided.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct basic and applied research activities and publish significant results.
• Seek and obtain extramural research funding.
• Mentor graduate students and postdoctoral associates.
• Create and publish research papers, reviews, book chapters, editorials, and patents.
• Serve the department and the scientific community; present at national and international meetings.
• Analyze and summarize data in original manuscripts and related publications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
