CEI Senior Landscape Inspector
Location: Tampa, FL area (On‑Site). Compensation: USD $32 – $47 per hour. Business Line: Transportation; Business Group: DCS; Strategic Business Unit: East; Career Area: Quality.
Job Description
The CEI Senior Landscape Inspector will support a variety of transportation infrastructure projects by performing inspections, analysis, and quality assurance related to landscape and irrigation systems.
Responsibilities
- Oversee plant identification, classification, and grading in accordance with the “Grades and Standards for Nursery Plants” manual issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
- Apply extensive experience and independent judgment to plan and accomplish project goals.
- Establish and manage project deadlines independently.
- Provide on‑the‑job training and mentorship to new employees.
- Monitor conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and code requirements through detailed inspections.
- Conduct daily field inspections and maintain accurate inspection records.
- Participate in punch lists, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Track and report on quality assurance progress.
- Contribute to documentation for area and equipment turnovers.
- Perform soil analysis and recommend amendments to support optimal plant growth.
- Oversee irrigation system installation and maintenance to ensure efficiency and water conservation.
- Collaborate with project managers and contractors to resolve landscape‑related issues and maintain project timelines.
- Prepare detailed landscape inspection reports, including photographic documentation and improvement recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations related to landscaping and plant management.
- Participate in pre‑construction meetings to review landscape plans and identify potential improvements or concerns.
- Monitor the health and condition of existing vegetation, recommending treatment or removal as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma plus 6 years of related experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
- FDOT Intermediate MOT.
- Knowledge of current Florida Department of Transportation methods for landscape and irrigation installation.
- FDEP Stormwater Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspector.
- Florida Licensed Landscape Architect or Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association (FNGLA) Certified Landscape Contractor.
- International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist.
- International Society of Arboriculture Advanced Pruning.
