Job summary

Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering LLC (ICE) invites a Project Supervisor to monitor contractor work for compliance on transportation projects in Martinsburg, WV. The role may include inspection and project management under a Project Manager.

The ideal candidate has Roadway/Bridge inspection experience, a Level III Transportation Engineering Technician Certification, and proficiency with AASHTOWare, ProjectWise, and MS Office. Travel is required within the Eastern panhandle region.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Fleet drivers must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily observation of construction activities and document activities on required reports/forms.
  • Review construction materials for contract and specification compliance.
  • Inspect roadways and structures for conformance to plans and specifications.
  • Evaluate structural materials, placement of culverts, and structural operations such as foundation excavation.
  • Monitor placement of pilings, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete, and backfill.
  • Verifies lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations using field engineering equipment.
  • Perform accurate calculations and computations.
  • Review contractor submittals for conformance to project documents and specifications.
  • Document and immediately report any non-compliance actions and safety violations to your immediate supervisor.
  • Recording Daily Work Reports to include quantities in AASHTOWare and ProjectWise on daily basis.

Project Supervisor - WV

Position Summary
The inspector will monitor the work of contractors to ensure compliance with contract requirements, specifications, and quality standards for transportation projects of moderate to considerable complexity. In addition to inspection responsibilities, the inspector may be required to provide inspection/project management, under the direction of a Project Manager. This position requires travel to the eastern panhandle working in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • HS diploma required or equivalent required.
  • Transportation Engineering Technician (Level III) Certification.
  • Roadway and bridge inspection experience is required
  • WVDOH experience is desired.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, AASHTOWare, and ProjectWise.

  • A certification as a Level III Transportation Engineering Technician or higher.
  • Two of the following certifications are required or able to obtain:
  • Asphalt Field and Compaction
  • Soil and Aggregate Compaction
  • PCC Inspector
  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician - Grade 1
Physical Demands

The role involves moderate physical activity such as walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs or ladders. Employees may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds. It is essential for employees to navigate construction sites skillfully and conduct thorough inspections of materials and structures.
Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods. Employees must be capable of working in varied environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and noisy settings, and be able to stand and walk during site visits. Additionally, working on construction projects may involve night work and weekend work depending on the project scope and may include working in conditions with active traffic.

Expected Hours of Work

The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule.
