Job summary

GFT in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a CEI Inspector to join our Construction Services Team in Northern Florida. You will independently perform complex inspection tasks, review documentation, interpret blueprints, and ensure compliance with FDOT and JEA standards on state projects.

The role includes leading other inspectors, drafting safety and quality reports, and contributing to project safety programs. Qualified candidates have at least 4 years in construction inspection, a Civil Engineering

Qualifications

• 4 years of experience in construction inspection.
• 2 years in bridge and/or roadway inspection.
• Civil Engineering degree with ability to earn additional required qualifications within one year can substitute for years of experience.
• CTQP certifications and IMSA/FDOT requirements are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs the most difficult and complex inspection tasks, including assessing adherence to quality control procedures for steel.
• Reads and interprets blueprints and construction specifications.
• Conduct tests to determine if work meets contract specifications.
• Documents nonconformance and participates in determining appropriate resolution.
• Develops job safety practices and drafts safety reports.
• Drafts quality control reports and procedures.
• Provides guidance for lower-level inspectors.
• Experience with JEA underground utilities is recommended.

What You Will Do

GFT is seeking a CEI Inspector to join our Construction Services Team in Northern Florida!

Responsibilities

Independently performs the most difficult and complex inspection tasks, including assessing adherence to quality control procedures for steel. Inspection activities are usually concentrated in one of the following areas: soils, concrete, steel, mechanical or electrical. Frequently serves in the capacity of Lead Inspector.

• Inspects various facets of work on the JEA and FDOT construction site to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
• Documents nonconformance and participates in determining appropriate resolution.
• Reads and interprets blueprints and construction specifications.
• Conduct tests to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract specifications.
• Documents nonconformance and participates determining appropriate resolution.
• Develop job safety practices and drafts safety reports.
• Drafts quality control reports and procedures.
• Provides guidance for lower-level inspectors.
• Experience with JEA underground utilities is recommended.

What You Will Bring

• High school graduate or equivalent
• 4 years of experience in construction inspection
• 2 years of which shall have been in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection
• A Civil Engineering degree and one (1) year of road & bridge CEI experience with the ability to earn additional required qualifications within one year can be substituted for years of experience

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $30 - $40 / hour. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
