Job summary

Great American Insurance Group is seeking a Claims Representative/Senior Claims Representative/Claim Specialist for the Reinsurance Claims department in Cincinnati, OH. The role requires on-site presence four days a week with one remote day; open to full-time work-from-home for candidates outside greater Cincinnati.

You should have a strong understanding of ceded reinsurance claim processes, excellent communication, and ability to collaborate across functions in a dynamic team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 0–5 years of reinsurance claims experience; direct claim handling knowledge preferred.
• Basic understanding of insurance policies and claims for property, casualty, and specialty lines.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work across reporting lines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Willingness to cross-train across multiple lines of business.
• Ability to prioritize concurrent assignments and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate applicable reinsurance coverage for asbestos, environmental, and abuse claims.
• Maintain a diary of claims for reporting, updating, and billing losses to reinsurers.
• Respond to reinsurer information requests and claims inquiries.
• Understand reinsurance structures to produce net exposure calculations.
• Record ceded reinsurance claim cessions accurately and timely.
• Document and maintain records for proper claim follow up.
• Collaborate with reinsurance accounting on collections as needed.
• Facilitate reinsurer claim reviews.
• Participate in reinsurance and team projects as needed.
• Provide guidance to other functional areas and ensure policies are followed.
