Job summary

Capstone Community Action in Morrisville, VT seeks a Financial & Micro Business Coach to deliver financial education workshops and personalized budgeting guidance for individuals, families, and low-to moderate-income entrepreneurs.

The role includes coaching on budgeting, bill payment, credit improvement, debt reduction, student loans, and savings strategies, plus business counseling for startup and expansion in a family-centered, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in community organizing, community development, personal finance management, planning or human services; or an AA with accreditation in Financial Counseling/Financial Coaching; or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in personal finance management, coaching, and credit building with low-income populations.
• 4 years in small business development or management with self-employment experience.
• Basic bookkeeping or accounting experience or budget management.
• Experience in group facilitation.
• Experience in marketing and public relations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver financial capability and micro-business development services for Vermonters to promote stability and opportunity.
• Provide financial education workshops and individualized budgeting, debt reduction, and savings coaching.
• Offer technical assistance and business counseling to start-up and expand small ventures, including business planning and referrals.
• Advocate for clients and connect them with supportive services and training for entrepreneurs.

The Financial & Micro Business Coach is responsible for delivering financial capability and micro-business development services that promote financial stability, asset building, and economic opportunity for individuals, families, and small business owners throughout Vermont.

Position: Capstone is looking for a Financial & Micro Business coach for our Morrisville, VT location. This position provides financial education workshops and individualized coaching on budgeting, bill payment, credit improvement, debt reduction, student loans, savings strategies, and other personal finance topics. The Financial & Micro Business Coach also provides technical assistance and business counseling to start-up and expand businesses, including business planning, referrals to supportive services, advocacy, and training for current and aspiring low-to moderate-income entrepreneurs.

Qualifications

• B.A. or higher degree, preferably in community organizing, community development. personal finance management, planning or human services; or a AA and nationally recognized accreditation in Financial Counseling or Financial Coaching; or a comparable combination of relevant work experience and training.
• 3+ years' in experience in personal finance management, personal finance coaching, and credit building, including demonstrated competency and sensitivity in working with low-income individuals and families seeking to become economically self-sufficient.
• 4 years' experience in small business development or management, with experience owning a business or being self-employed referred.
• Basic bookkeeping or accounting experience or experience managing a budget.
• Experience in group facilitation
• Experience in marketing and public relations
