Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the night shift at Baptist Medical Center East in Alabama. The PCT will support RNs, LPNs and physicians with routine patient care, activities of daily living, vital signs and safety tasks.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED; CNA or Health Occupations program is preferred. BLS is required, with strong communication skills and physical ability to assist with lifting and mobility on site.

The PCT shall assist RNs, LPN's, and Physicians in the patient care process. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.**Education/Experience**: High School graduate or equivalent required. Graduate from a certified Nursing Assistant Program or a Health Occupations Program (HOSA) preferred. Completion of first clinical rotation as a Nurse Student (i.e. completion of ‘Nursing Fundamentals' course which includes assistance with Activities of Daily Living, vitals signs etc) or 1 year of experience in a patient care role in an acute care, nursing home or home care setting preferred.**License/Certification**: BLS required**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**: • Knowledge of body mechanics and basic safety, principles of physical care and comfort. • Medical terminology training preferred. • Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns. • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.**Work Conditions/Physical Requirements:**Position requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility 80% of the workday. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.
