Description
This position operates tractor trailer and/or other assigned vehicles to transport freight over long distances, ensuring on-time deliveries, compliance with safety regulations, and excellent customer service. This position could require extended periods away from home on occasion.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent
3-5 years of related driving experience
Ability to read, write, and comprehend English
Current Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
Clean Driving Record. Must pass Clearinghouse search on a yearly basis.
Current Medical Card.
Forklift and Electric Jack experience preferred. Must be able to safely manipulate vehicles around moving co-workers with extreme care.
Must have the ability to become certified on forklift and pallet jack.
Willing and able to work with food allergens including but not limited to peanuts, shellfish, wheat, soybeans, milk and eggs.
Job Duties
Performs required daily pre-trip and post-trip inspection checklists and immediately report any needed repairs.
Delivers finished goods primarily to the Northeast & New England Region with occasional deliveries to the Mid-west (Occasional Florida run may be required).
Follow all DOT rules and regulations.
Ensure that inside and outside of vehicle is clean.
Hauls bulk, sacked, or palletized ingredients / products to customers and other company locations as directed by Logistics Manager.
Loads and unloads materials onto or from truck by hand, forklift or electric pallet jack.
Record mileage from company trucks and tractors and report to supervisor.
Ensure that trailer stand is positioned and secured when dropping a trailer at a dock.
Keep accurate records as required manually.
Keep accurate records of any additional information necessary for invoicing or cost analysis.
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
