Rumpke Waste & Recycling is hiring a Utility Driver in Ironton, OH to service customers with trash and recycling pickups on various routes. The role involves operating multiple truck types and maintaining safety and compliance.

You will regularly enter/exit the cab, load materials, and ensure timely collection. Strong maps literacy, CDL credentials, and customer-focused communication are essential to succeed on this team.

Qualifications

• CDL driving experience required (1–2 years).
• Ability to read and understand a map for routing.
• Able to drive all trucks in the fleet.
• Basic knowledge of truck maintenance and safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide trash or recycling removal services to customers, safely and efficiently.
• Operate various types of trucks and routes.
• Routinely enter/exit the truck 300-500 times per day.
• Pick up missed stops and routes as needed.
• Deliver/replace containers at curb or designated area.
• Clean up spills and ensure cleanliness of truck.
• Maintain route and driver logs; perform pre/post-trip inspections.
• Interact professionally with customers and coworkers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Utility Drivers are responsible for servicing customers with the collection and hauling of waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. This position operates various types of trucks, often filling in for other drivers. Utility Drivers will service many different routes in various areas.

Responsibilities of Position:

• Provide trash or recycling removal services to customers, in a safe and compliant way, by emptying trash/recycling containers into truck and hauling to disposal site
• Operate various types of trucks and/or complete various routes
• Routinely enter/exit the truck approximately 300-500 times per day, depending on the assigned route
• Pick up missed stops and/or routes as needed
• Deliver trash/recycling containers as needed
• Replace trash/recycling containers neatly at the curb or designated area
• Clean up waste spills and overflows
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body and ensure cleanliness of truck cab
• Maintain and update route & driver log sheets
• Conduct pre-trip/post trip inspections and complete logs
• Professionally interact with internal and external customers, providing excellent customer service
• Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:

• This position will not manage employees

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

• Ability to get certified in various trucks
• Ability to enter/exit the truck approximately 300-500 times per day
• Ability to read and understand a map
• Ability to drive all types of trucks in fleet
• General knowledge of truck mechanics
• Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
• Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training

Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:

• Minimum 1-2 years CDL truck driving experience

Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:

• Frequently lifting/carrying a max of 75 lbs
• Continuously pushing/pulling a max of 75 lbs
