Job summary

Sealevel Construction, Inc. is seeking a CDL Class A Truck Driver to join our team. This role centers on safe, compliant transport of heavy equipment and materials to job sites across the region.

Candidates must hold a valid CDL A, have strong knowledge of DOT rules, and bring 5+ years of heavy haul experience. Applicants with dump truck exposure are preferred. We offer a stable, at-will work environment and a focus on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program.
  • Obey traffic laws and drive within posted limits and stop signs.
  • Maneuver tractor-trailers into loading/unloading positions per signals.
  • Collect delivery instructions and verify routes.
  • Maintain logs of hours and vehicle status per regulations.
  • Inspect vehicle and safety equipment, report defects or incidents.
  • Secure equipment for transport and document weights and routes.
  • Load/unload trucks and use loading equipment as needed.
  • Plan routes using GPS and adjust for conditions to save fuel.
  • Subject to DOT drug screens and maintain a valid CDL.
  • Perform other duties as required.

CDL Class A Truck Driver
Qualifications
  • Must have a valid State CDL Class A license.
  • Knowledge of DOT and local driving laws and regulations.
  • Five years or more of heavy haul commercial driving experience preferred.
  • Have dump truck experience preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program.
  • Obey all traffic laws, including but not limited to: driving within posted speed limits, stopping and looking for traffic at all stop signs.
  • Maneuver tractor and trailers into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
  • Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Check the truck to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Report defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the tractor and/or trailer.
  • Secure equipment for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers.
  • Drive the tractor and/or trailer to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes to document weights and to comply with state regulations.
  • Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver products, cranes, or other equipment.
  • Obtain receipts or signatures for services when required.
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting heavy equipment and wide loads.
  • Operate equipment, such as CB radios, and telephones, to exchange necessary information with company personnel.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs.
  • Inspect the load before and after to determine the physical condition.
  • Check conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage.

  • Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
  • Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption.
  • Load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading, operating any special loading related equipment on vehicles and using other equipment as necessary.
  • Subject to random D.O.T. drug screens and regulations.
  • Maintain a valid commercial driver’s license.
  • Perform other duties or task as required based on company’s needs.
