Job summary

Vortex Companies, LLC in Huntington Beach, CA is seeking an Equipment Operator to support sewer maintenance and rehabilitation projects. You will operate field equipment, enter manholes, monitor pumps, and help keep pipelines functioning through hands-on tasks on a fast-paced job site.

This full-time, non-exempt role requires 3–5 years of Class A operation experience, a tanker endorsement (or willingness to obtain one), and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and a DOT physical.

Qualifications

• Preferred 3–5 years of experience operating a Class A vehicle.
• Tanker endorsement required or willing to obtain.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test, DOT physical and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Manual labor tasks including lifting and carrying material.
• Drive and operate equipment and enter manholes/underground structures.
• Support sewer maintenance, inspection and rehabilitation tasks.
• Load, unload and move materials and equipment; follow supervision directions.
• Maintain safety equipment and PPE as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Manual labor tasks (lifting, carrying, dragging or pulling material, etc.)
• Equipment driving and operation.
• Entry into manhole and underground structures.
• Pump watch and operation.
• Performs all work tasks required to support execution of sewer maintenance, inspection and/or rehabilitation pipeline tasks
• Operation and maintenance of all equipment
• Makes routine decisions and takes direction from supervision.
• Load, unload, and move materials and equipment

Qualifications

• Preferred 3-5 years of experience operating a Class A
• Tanker endorsement required or willing to obtain.
• Must also have the ability and/or willingness to learn and operate other company equipment.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test, D.O.T. physical and meet background requirements.

Physical Demands

• Ability to perform physically demanding work for 8+ hours a day, including prolonged standing and walking, bending, and twisting.
• Ability to enter confined spaces.
• Ability to lift and move 50 lbs.
• Able to work in various weather conditions.
• Able to wear required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working as required by the job.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday and can include shift work, weekends, evenings, holidays - flexibility is required as job duties demand.

Salary Range

• $20.00 Hour, depending on position qualifications, job related skills and experience, education, certifications, and geographic location.
• Work on prevailing wage projects will be paid at the applicable prevailing wage rate based on the project location and work performed, with required fringe benefits provided as applicable
