Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a part-time yard switcher in the Portsmouth, NH area to move trailers between yards and doors in a fast-paced FedEx yard environment. You will coordinate with central control, document moves, and perform pre- and post-trip inspections.

Qualifications include a CDL Class A and a valid DOT file; no formal education required, though six months' handling or CDL experience is preferred. Must be 21 or older and able to work in varying temperatures and noise.

Qualifications

• No experience required; six months of experience as a package handler or switching/CDL operator experience preferred.
• Must have a valid DOT file and a CDL Class A for interstate operation.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Performs trailer switches defined as hooking and moving a parked trailer from the yard to a load/unload door or hooking and moving a trailer from a door to the yard.
• Communicates with management and/or central control to coordinate trailer movements in the yard.
• Documents trailer moves using the Yard Management System (where available) or switcher cards
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Understands and demonstrates effective yard switching safety processes and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned
