Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Roll Off Driver to safely haul waste and debris, delivering and removing roll-off containers for customers on an on-site route. CDL with Class B is required, and safety is emphasized throughout daily duties.

The role includes pre/post-trip inspections, route-sheet maintenance, and professional interaction with customers and dispatch to ensure reliable service in varied weather and conditions.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand maps or navigation systems.
• Preferred ability to drive a manual transmission.
• General knowledge of basic truck mechanics.
• Good written and verbal communication with customers and internal teams.
• Must read/speak English well enough to understand directions and safety training.

Responsibilities

• Operate truck safely to deliver and remove roll-off containers on assigned routes or by work order.
• Maintain and update route sheets.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete logs.
• Visually inspect containers and secure loads to prevent spillage.
• Keep areas around the compactor clean and maintain truck cab cleanliness.
• Enter/exit the truck multiple times per day and handle equipment safely.
• Hook/unhook containers and secure tarps as needed.
• Interacting professionally with customers and coordinating with dispatch.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Roll Off Drivers are responsible for servicing customers with the hauling of waste or construction debris to a disposal site. Roll Off Drivers will deliver, remove, and haul roll-off containers to/from customers sites.

Responsibilities of Position:

• Operate truck in a safe and compliant manner to provide roll-off delivery and removal services to customers on an assigned route(s) or by work order
• Maintains and updates route sheets
• Conduct daily pre-trip/post-trip inspections and complete DVIR logs
• Visually inspect roll off containers and ensure proper load securement to prevent loss of trash and debris
• Clean up areas located around compactor when servicing customers as needed
• Maintain cleanliness of truck cab
• Enter/exit the truck multiple times per day
• Climb to hook/unhook containers, move items to smooth the load and secure tarps
• Professionally interact with internal and external customers, and work with dispatch on additional work orders to ensure quality customer service
• Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:

• This position will not manage employees

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

• Ability to read and understand a map and/or navigation system
• Ability to drive manual transmission is preferred
• General knowledge of the truck mechanics
• Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
• Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training

Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:

• 1-2 years CDL truck driving experience preferred

Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:

• Frequentlylifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbs
• Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs
• Continuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
• Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
• Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
• Frequently climbing and/or balancing
• Frequently sitting/standing/walking

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

• Must have at least a valid Class B CDL
• Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire
• Must be at least 19 years of age
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
• Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste
• Ability to travel between offices, as required
• Ability to workflexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
• Must be able to read and speak the English language
