Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling in Delaware, OH is hiring a Residential Front Load Driver to service assigned routes, operating garbage and recycling trucks to disposal facilities. A valid Class B CDL and a DOT medical card are required, with at least 19 years old and clean driving record.

You'll work outdoors in varying conditions, perform pre/post trip inspections, maintain route sheets, and provide excellent customer service while safely handling carts and waste.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Class B CDL.
• Must hold a DOT Medical Card or obtain prior to hire.
• At least 19 years old.
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
• No DUI/OVI within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.

Responsibilities

• Operate residential trucks safely to collect waste and recycling.
• Perform pre-trip/post trip inspections and maintain logs.
• Interact professionally with customers.
• Replace carts at curb and assist in site cleanups.
• Maintain route sheets and truck cleanliness.
• Travel between offices as needed; work nights/weekends as required.
• Adhere to safety procedures and lock-out/tag-out protocols.

Residential Front Load Drivers are responsible for servicing customers on an assigned route(s) with the collection and hauling of waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. This position requires the ability to operate different trucks, so excellent driving/maneuvering skills are essential.

Responsibilities of Position:

• Operate trucks in a safe and compliant manner to provide trash or recycling removal services to customers by emptying trash/recycling carts into truck and hauling to disposal site
• May be required to pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings
• Replace trash/recycling carts neatly at the curb or designated area
• Clean up waste spills and overflows
• Maintain and update route sheets
• Maintain cleanliness of truck cab
• Conduct pre-trip/post trip inspections and complete logs
• Professionally interact with internal and external customers, providing excellent customer service
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body while following proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:

• This position will not manage employees

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

• Ability to read and understand a map
• Ability to drive all types of trucks in residential fleet
• General knowledge of truck mechanics
• Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
• Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training

Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:

• 1-2 years CDL truck driving preferred
• General knowledge of truck mechanics

Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:

• Frequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 20 lbs
• Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbs
• Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs
• Continuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
• Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
• Occasionally stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
• Occasionally climbing and/or balancing
• Frequently sitting/standing; occasionally walking

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

• Must have at least a valid Class B CDL
• Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire
• Must be at least 19 years of age
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
• Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste
• Ability to travel between offices, as required
• Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Valid driver's license (if applicable)
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
• Must be able to read and speak the English language
