Job summary

GFL - Sewer Technologies Division in Henderson, NC is hiring a Driver - Residential to safely operate neighborhood routes with side-loaders and rear-loaders.

You will service homes daily, maintain high route quality, and be the friendly face in the community, while following safety checks and coordinating with helpers and supervisors.

A valid CDL with clean record or CDL-school certificate and a willingness to work daytime, full-time shifts is required.

Qualifications

• CDL license with clean driving record.
• 1+ years of commercial driving experience or CDL school certificate.
• Must be physically able to get in/out of cab and work outdoors.
• Strong commitment to safety and traffic laws.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate residential collection vehicles on Henderson routes.
• Collect solid waste, recyclables, and yard waste per daily routes.
• Provide courteous, professional service and uphold route quality standards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections for safety.
• Coordinate with helpers, mechanics, and supervisors to keep routes running smoothly.

What You’ll Do

• Master Neighborhood Routes: Safely operate residential collection vehicles (side-loaders, rear-loaders, and automated trucks) to service neighborhoods across Henderson.
• Keep Communities Green: Efficiently collect solid waste, recyclables, and yard waste according to daily route sheets.
• Be the Face of GFL: Provide courteous, professional service to residents and uphold route quality standards.
• Prioritize Safety: Perform required daily pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure your vehicle is safe and road-ready.
• Work as a Team: Coordinate closely with helpers, mechanics, and supervisors to keep your route running smoothly and safely.

What We’re Looking For

• Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
• Experience: 1+ years of commercial driving experience OR a certificate from an accredited CDL school.
• Physical Readiness: Ability to maneuver in and out of the cab, handle outdoor conditions, and manage physical aspects of residential collection.
• Safety First Mindset: Strong commitment to local traffic laws, company safety procedures, and defensive driving.
• Customer Service Attitude: Professional demeanor with a positive, helpful attitude when interacting with local residents.
