Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a safety-conscious driver to operate heavy collection equipment on residential routes in Georgia. You will perform daily inspections, drive Auto Side-Load or Rear Pack trucks, and ensure timely, compliant service for our customers.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record (Abstract and MVR).
• Minimum X year of commercial driving experience.
• Ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems.
• Ability to meet safety standards for safety-sensitive roles.
• Strong attendance and flexibility for early morning start and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate an Automated Side-Load or Rear Pack truck on residential routes.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete logs daily.
• Collect residential waste and recycling per route schedules.
• Operate hydraulic and compaction systems safely to prevent damage.
• Report mechanical issues and safety incidents to management.
• Maintain high route productivity and vehicle cleanliness.
• Follow traffic laws, safety policies, and PPE standards.
• Collaborate with Helpers and Supervisors daily.
• Perform other operational duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Licensing: Valid CDL A with a clean Driver’s Abstract and MVR.
• Driving Experience: Minimum X year of commercial driving experience
• Equipment Operation: Demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems.
• Safety Commitment: Ability to successfully satisfy all company standards for safety-sensitive operational roles.
• Reliability: Strong attendance record and flexibility to support early morning start schedules and operational overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Safe Fleet Operation: Safely operate an Automated Side-Load (ASL) or Rear Pack, Roll Off collection truck along assigned residential routes.
• Safety Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and complete required trip logs and paperwork.
• Curbside Collection: Collect residential waste and recycling materials in strict accordance with route schedules and corporate safety protocols.
• System Operations: Skillfully operate hydraulic and compaction systems using proper techniques to prevent equipment damage.
• Reporting & Maintenance: Promptly report any mechanical write-ups, route hazards, or safety incidents to management.
• Service Quality: Maintain high route productivity, customer service standards, and vehicle cleanliness.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, municipal bylaws, company safety policies, and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with Helpers and Supervisors to support smooth, efficient daily operations.
• Additional Duties: Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.
