Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a CDL driver for Effingham, IL, performing curbside trash and recycling collection. You will operate a truck, load containers, and deliver service to residential and commercial customers.

Responsibilities include route maintenance, safety inspections, and excellent customer service. Must hold a valid Class B CDL and DOT medical card, with a commitment to safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand a map.
• Ability to enter/exit the truck approximately 300-500 times per day.
• General knowledge of truck mechanics.
• Good written and verbal communication skills to communicate with customers.
• Must be able to read and speak English well enough to understand directions and safety training.

Responsibilities

• Provide trash or recycling removal services to customers in a safe and compliant way by dumping containers into the truck.
• Routinely enter/exit the truck approximately 300-500 times per day, depending on route.
• May be required to pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings.
• Replace trash/recycling receptacles neatly at the curb or designated area.
• Clean up waste spills and overflows.
• Maintain and update route and driver log sheets.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete logs.
• Interact with internal and external customers professionally.
• Clean waste from packer blade and truck body and ensure cleanliness of the cab.
• Deliver trash or recycling containers as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Routinely enter/exit the truck approximately 300-500 times per day, depending on the assigned route
• May be required to pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings

• Professionally interact with internal and external customers, providing excellent customer service
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body and ensure cleanliness of truck cab

Supervisory Responsibility:

• This position will not manage employees

Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:

Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:

• Continuously pushing/pulling a max of 75 lbs
• Frequentlylifting/carrying a max of 75 lbs
• Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs
• Continuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
• Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
• Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
• Frequently climbing and/or balancing
• Frequently sitting/standing/walking

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

• Must have at least a valid Class B CDL
• Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire
• Must be at least 19 years of age
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
• Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste
• Ability to travel between offices, as required
• Ability to workflexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
• Must be able to read and speak the English language

Pay Range: $21.50 to 30/hour
