Job summary

First Student is hiring a Part Time School Bus Driver to start students' days with morning pickups and transport them safely to and from school. The role offers a pay rate of $33.25/hr for an 8-hour day, Monday through Friday, with benefits including medical, dental and vision, plus a 401(k).

The position supports travel across multiple states and opportunities for career advancement within 540 locations. You will travel out of state, work with local teams, supervise boarding, conduct safety

Qualifications

• Hold a CDL Class B with P and S endorsements.
• Availability to travel out of state.
• Be at least 21 years old.
• Have a valid driver's license for at least 3 years.
• Enjoy working with students.

Responsibilities

• Transport students to and from school and activities.
• Supervise boarding and unloading at stops; assist with seatbelts and mobility aids.
• Maintain order on the bus to prevent distractions.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections (brakes, lights, tires, emergency exits).
• Report mechanical issues promptly and keep the bus clean and sanitary.

Your day as a School Bus Driver will include:

• Traveling out of state and stay for extended periods, short term and long term opportunities available.
• Working with local teams to provide reliable transportation services during staffing shortages, new business start-ups, and operations transitions.
• Safely transport students to and from school and activities.
• Supervise boarding and unloading at stops; assist students with seatbelts and mobility aids.
• Maintain order on the bus to prevent distractions.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections (brakes, lights, tires, emergency exits).
• Report mechanical issues promptly and keep the bus clean and sanitary.
• Obey all traffic laws and company safety standards.
• Communicate with parents, school staff, and dispatch about student behavior or delays.
• Demonstrate leadership and customer service skills.
