Job summary

Barnhill Contracting Company in North Carolina is seeking a dedicated dump truck operator to safely deliver asphalt, borrow material, excavation and stone base to various projects. You will perform pre-trip inspections and operate dump trucks while adhering to safety rules.

The role requires at least 19 years old, CDL Class B with a valid medical card, and a reliable attendance record. Training is provided, and you’ll work as part of a team in a fast-paced construction environment with attention

Qualifications

• One year of experience; training provided.
• CDL Class B with a valid medical card.
• At least 19 years old.
• Able to read and write as required for documentation.
• Reliable, trustworthy, and a team player.
• Good attendance and safety record.
• Ability to climb steps and work in elevated temperatures.
• Physical ability to squat, bend, climb in and out of the truck, and use handholds.
• Capable of standing and walking for long periods and staying alert while driving.
• Ability to obey precise instructions and strict safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Operate a dump truck and other types of trucks.
• Perform pre-trip inspection on truck.
• Transport and deliver construction materials to projects in a timely manner.
• May perform other duties or operate other types of trucks.
• Maintain a good attendance and safety record.
• Clean debris and materials from the tailgate area and sides of the truck.
• Perform accurate pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Stand, walk, and drive for long periods while staying alert and driving defensively.
• Abide by precise instructions, strict safety rules and policies.
• Operate equipment at recommended speeds and peaks of operation, meeting productivity goals.
• Work safely in traffic, backing, and maneuvering in sometimes congested areas.
• Recap steps and handholds into the truck, maintaining three points of contact when climbing.
