Job summary

City of Clinton in South Carolina is seeking a dependable CDL Driver for the Streets & Sanitation Division to operate sanitation trucks and other city vehicles in outdoor, community-facing work. You will perform pre-trip inspections, report issues, and participate in routine maintenance and safety programs.

Ideal candidates have a Class B CDL (or ability to obtain within six months), a safe driving record, and the ability to work independently or as part of a crew while adhering to DOT and city

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus six months’ municipal streets and sanitation work or related experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Class B CDL or able to obtain within six months of employment.
• Ability to operate commercial vehicles and equipment used in streets and sanitation work.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work independently and in a crew, with regular attendance.
• Professional communication with coworkers and the public.
• Commitment to safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate sanitation trucks and other commercial vehicles used in streets and sanitation operations.
• Inspect and perform basic maintenance, fueling, greasing, and cleaning of vehicles.
• Transport solid waste, yard debris, and materials to designated locations.
• Assist with street, right-of-way, and grounds maintenance activities.
• Perform daily pre-trip inspections and report vehicle malfunctions.
• Maintain inspection and maintenance documentation.
• Follow DOT drug/alcohol testing requirements and safety policies.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies and standby assignments as needed.
