Job description

Position Overview

The CDL Driver/Laborer will be responsible for driving vacuum trucks, waterblast trucks, and other commercial vehicles to and from project sites all across the company territories. The CDL Driver/Laborer will also assist crews at the sites and will ensure that they are operating their vehicles and their tools in a safe manner.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Drives and operates vacuum trucks, waterblast trucks, and other commercial vehicles to and from project sites.
  • Obeys traffic laws and regulations.
  • Maintains accurate driving logs and hours in compliance with company policy and DOT guidelines.
  • Completes vehicle inspection reports to ensure vehicle and equipment are safe to operate before leaving sites and stays within DOT compliance.
  • Immediately reports all accidents, near misses, and injuries involving employees or others to the Safety Manager or Supervisors on site.
  • Maintains equipment and vehicles, helps in operation of equipment, and understands the ability of the equipment and how to operate it in a safe manner.
  • Connects and disconnects hoses, dumps/unloads materials, cleans out truck tank after each use.
  • Actively champions a positive workplace and safety culture.
  • Performs various other duties and functions as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Must have a commercial driver’s license, Class B.
  • Must be able to pass a motor vehicle report.
  • Basic verbal and written communication skills and must be able to read and write in English.
  • Basic interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Basic organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Working understanding of safety principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high‑paced and at times stressful environment.

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to lift, push, pull and move up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairways regularly throughout the work shift.
  • Ability to observe conditions and others as safety attendant, staying alert while seated for long periods of time as needed.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and other tools and equipment in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Ability to perform inspections of site, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to perform behavioral observations focused on safety and process improvement.
  • Ability to follow safety protocol and to report any incident, unsafe act, or unsafe condition immediately to the site supervisor and safety manager.
Training
  • Must provide proof of successful completion of OSHA 10 hour within 60 days of starting at the company.
