Job summary

PA Building Supply, a division of US LBM Holdings, LLC, seeks a CDL Driver I to deliver materials to job sites, inspect and maintain the truck, and log DOT time accurately. You will help load/unload, check orders, and provide excellent customer service to our customers.

Qualified candidates have a High School Diploma or GED, Class A or B CDL, and 1–3 years CDL experience; strong math, communication skills, and safety mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CDL experience preferred; 1–3 years for interstate commerce is expected.
• Class A or Class B CDL license is required.
• Basic math and reading orders are essential.
• Effective communication with customers and coworkers is important.
• Ability to learn GPS and other business applications.

Job description

PA Building Supply brings together three trusted names—John H. Myers, Shelly’s, and Musselman—combining over a century of service with expanded capabilities. John H. Myers (est. 1916), Shelly’s (est. 1923), and Musselman (est. 1911) joined US LBM between 2011–2013, and together they serve a wide range of customers, from custom contractors, repair and remodel to production builders. The CDL Driver I delivers materials to job site, inspects and maintains truck, reports shortages and claims to supervisor and assists in loading and storing of materials. Typical, driving a truck with a capacity of more than three tons, but may be a less experienced CDL or tractor trailer driver. What you will do

• Operate safely.
• Participate in a positive work environment.
• Maintain a current Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License as required.
• Prepare DOT required log of time on duty and driving.
• Organize and secure load.
• Assist forklift operators when loading.
• Check orders for accuracy.
• Deliver and unload materials to customers’ satisfaction.
• Complete daily equipment pre-inspection.
• Record all merchandise that is returned by truck, assist in unloading material returned for credit.
• Follow guidelines established by the Department of Transportation.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Relay messages sent by customers while on job.
• Assist supervisor, other employees and other work areas, as assigned.
• Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in yard and warehouse.
• Comply with all company policies and guidelines.
• Operate truck mounted forklift safely and efficently.
• Maintain cleanliness of truck.
• Participate in and complete assigned trainings. Required For All Jobs

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience Qualifications
• CDL experience preferred
• Basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers required.
• 1-3 years CDL experience required for interstate commerce
• Skills and Abilities
• Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions and complete forms.
• Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
• Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems.
• Maintain current operator’s license and meet company driver qualification requirements.
• Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
• Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, GPS and other necessary business applications).
