Job summary

Lumber Specialties, a division of US LBM Holdings, LLC, is seeking a CDL Driver I to deliver materials to jobsites across the Midwest, inspect and maintain the truck, and assist in loading. The role requires a current Class A or B CDL, safe operation, and DOT log preparation. 1–3 years CDL experience is preferred; a High School Diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate safely and deliver materials to customers’ job sites.

Founded in 1983, Lumber Specialties operates multiple facilities in Dyersville, Story City, Osceola, Iowa and Kirkland, Illinois that total more than 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space on 64 acres. Lumber Specialties produces roof and floor trusses, wall panels as well as providing engineered wood products, steel beams and laminated columns to customers throughout the Midwest. Lumber Specialties is a division of US LBM, one of the country’s leading distributors of specialty building materials.

The CDL Driver I delivers materials to job site, inspects and maintains truck, reports shortages and claims to supervisor and assists in loading and storing of materials. Typically, driving a truck with a capacity of more than three tons, but may be a less experienced CDL or tractor trailer driver. What you will do

• Operate safely.
• Participate in a positive work environment.
• Maintain a current Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License as required.
• Prepare DOT required log of time on duty and driving.
• Organize and secure load.
• Assist forklift operators when loading.
• Check orders for accuracy.
• Deliver and unload materials to customers’ satisfaction.
• Complete daily equipment pre-inspection.
• Record all merchandise that is returned by truck, assist in unloading material returned for credit.
• Follow guidelines established by the Department of Transportation.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Relay messages sent by customers while on job.
• Assist supervisor, other employees and other work areas, as assigned.
• Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in yard and warehouse.
• Comply with all company policies and guidelines.
• Operate truck mounted forklift safely and efficently.
• Maintain cleanliness of truck.
• Participate in and complete assigned trainings. Required For All Jobs

• High School Diploma or GED required. Experience Qualifications
• CDL experience preferred
• Basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers required.
• 1-3 years CDL experience required for interstate commerce
• Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions and complete forms.
• Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
• Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems.
• Maintain current operator’s license and meet company driver qualification requirements.
• Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
• Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, GPS and other necessary business applications).
• Class A CDL License required.
• Class B CDL License required.
