Job summary

Tree Ya Later LLC is seeking a CDL Driver & Groundsman to join our growing team. The role blends vehicle operation with hands-on ground work, with the opportunity to learn tree-work safety and develop jobsite skills while supporting the crew.

This position offers progression through three clearly defined groundsman levels, from beginner to Lead Groundsman. Three levels—AFO I, II, and III—provide a path for advancement as you gain experience operating equipment, supporting the crew, and upholding

Qualifications

• CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.
• Basic job site safety knowledge and awareness.

• Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles and trailers.
• Comfort with varying outdoor conditions and long days.

Responsibilities

• Operate company CDL vehicles and trailers safely to and between job sites.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Act as a spotter during backing operations and equipment movement.
• Support ground crew with debris removal, equipment handling, and material transport.
• Ensure jobsite is cleaner when done than before we arrived.
• Ensure all tools are collected and stored upon job completion.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear PPE always.
• Anticipate where assistance will be needed before being asked.
• Assist with chipper operations and climber support.
• Learn tool names, storage locations, and handling.
• Maintain jobsite organization and safety standards.
• Study and practice to upgrade to Lead Groundsman.

The CDL Driver & Groundsman combines vehicle operation with hands-on ground support. This role is eager to learn, support the crew, and build safe habits, while focused on becoming a dependable, productive crew member and developing tree-work and jobsite-safety knowledge along the way. A valid CDL Class A license is required to safely operate company trucks and trailers between job sites, and the driver needs to move efficiently between driving responsibilities and ground work as the day calls for it.

This role is inclusive of three groundsman levels.

Three clearly defined levels, each one building on the last. Whether you're brand new to the industry or a seasoned field operator, there's a place for you and a path to move up.

AFO I

Arborist Field Operator I

For candidates who are new to the industry and eager to learn the fundamentals of professional tree work.

Primary Focus

• Learn jobsite safety, awareness, and crew communication
• Support cleanup, brush dragging, traffic control, and general labor tasks
• Build productive work habits and a strong foundation for advancement

AFO II

Arborist Field Operator II

For team members who have demonstrated reliability and can safely operate equipment while supporting production.

Primary Focus

• Operate chippers, mini skid steers, chainsaws, and other equipment safely
• Anticipate crew needs and contribute to overall job efficiency
• Maintain equipment and uphold Tree Ya Later safety standards

AFO III

Arborist Field Operator III

For experienced groundsmen who help coordinate ground operations and support the Climber/Crew Leader.

Primary Focus

• Manage ropes, rigging systems, drop zones, and worksite organization
• Train and mentor newer Groundsmen (AFO I & II)
• Set the pace of the job and ensure safe, efficient production

The Role

Pay & Benefits

Pay Range $26.00-$38.00 /hr Based on experience, skillset, and performance
