Job summary

Spee Dee Delivery Service is seeking a Support CDL Driver to fill in on open routes, supporting daily delivery operations with flexibility and safety. The role involves covering varying routes and schedules to meet business needs while maintaining service standards.

Starting wage is $24.00–$28.00 per hour, with overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours. Expect 10–15 hours of overtime weekly and occasional weekend OT as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate a manual transmission.
• Doubles/triples endorsement required or able to obtain.
• Strong customer service and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Cover open, vacant, or unassigned routes as needed to support daily deliveries.
• Assist drivers with loading, sorting freight, and morning duties.
• Deliver and pick up freight to customers and shippers in a timely manner.
• Inspect vehicles and report mechanical issues promptly.
• Collect payments as required and verify pickups on shipping papers.
• Notify management of problems or discrepancies as they arise.
• Maintain professional appearance and vehicle cleanliness at all times.
• Participate in weekly meetings and communicate goals and assignments.
• Occasional travel may be required to cover routes.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Job Summary

The Support CDL Driver fills in on open or unassigned routes to support daily delivery operations. This role requires flexibility to cover varying routes and schedules based on business needs while maintaining safety, service, and delivery standards.

Hours and Wages

• Monday- Friday, 7:00AM- completion of route
• May be expected to cover variable shifts based on business needs
• 10-15 hours of overtime expected each week
• Voluntary OT on weekends (as needed)
• Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week
• Starting wage: $24.00- $28.00 per hour, based on experienc e

Duties and Responsibilities

• Cover open, vacant or temporarily unassigned route based on business needs
• Assist drivers with daily morning duties such as sorting freight, loading trucks and other duties as needed
• Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers
• Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle
• Collect payments as needed
• Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers
• Notify management of any problems or discrepancies
• Maintain professional personal appearance as well as cleanliness of vehicle
• Participate in weekly meetings and communicate goals and assignments
• Travel may be required
• Perform other required duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to operate a manual transmission
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement
• Must possess good customer service and organizational skills

Education and Experience

• At least 21 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR successfully complete Company paid CDL training program

Physical Requirements

• Ability to pass a DOT physical
• Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly up to 100 pounds occasionally
• Full range of motion with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, walking, etc.
• Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
